We were walking to the park today when my son found and captured a little toad. He loved it and called it a frog. I corrected him and told him it was a toad. Then he asked why it wasn't a frog and what was the difference between a frog and a toad. I came up with 'a toad has rougher, more bumpy skin'. This seemed to satisfy our preschooler and he went on exploring it.
This got me to thinking. I don't really know the difference between a frog and a toad and yet I just blurted that out when he asked. Wow, how much of what I say am I just making up as I go. My poor kids.
