Philippians 4:23 I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
Wednesday our church was doing a congregation fasting. Those interested were to fast for 24 hours and break the fast on Wednesday night with communion at the church service. You were to pray about this and decide on the fast you wanted to do. During the fast we were to pray for our church, our fellow members, and anything personal.
I decided that it was something that God wanted me to participate in. I researched it and read that you should prep for a fast. I decided that I would do a water fast (and ONLY water). I woke up and thought this wasn't going to be that bad. My husband ate lunch and dinner with our kids so that I could avoid the kitchen table. I prayed with them and then left the room. It worked great. By the time I was getting everyone and myself ready for church that night I was really feeling it and getting a little cranky. I kept wishing that church was scheduled earlier.
I did it. I made it. My husband was a huge help with the kids and explaining about my commitment to the Lord. I am proud that I did it. It was incredible being so hungry and then participating in communion to end the fast. It was invigorating. I will definitely do it again. It took a lot of prayer and leaning on Jesus to make it through. I think that I could even maybe to a two day fast. I'll try that one in a couple years maybe.
I am more thankful now for my food and my prayer is to try to be less wasteful.
