Sonne

Our sweet dog is Sonne but it's pronounced 'Zona' these days. She is 10 years old and a great dog for us to have around. She puts up with a lot from the boys (especially the youngest).


We purchased Sonne 10 years ago while we were in Arizona during college. My husband and I were just dating at the time but we both decided that we would like to have a dog together. I don't do well with large dogs so we agreed on a small dog. He had always wanted a dachshund so that is where we started. It took a while to find a good breeder that was close enough for us to purchase without having to fly a puppy in from somewhere.

We finally found the breeder and met her in a McDonald's parking lot to pick a miniature dachshund from a litter. She had a whole group of brothers and sisters to chose from. I honestly wanted a black and tan before we saw them all. But we fell for Sonne. She was a little bundle, a brown sable, a sweet and scared little girl. We drove her home as she whimpered in her box. She was fine and extremely playful a couple days later.

She is extremely smart. Everyone who meets her agrees. She knows many tricks with the thanks to my husband and his many days off when he first started his career.
