Not His Day

Our poor sweet little boy. Today was a day of accidents and injuries.

1. Choked
2. Fingers Slammed in door
3. Dog bite

1 - It all started out with our oldest waking us up screaming 'MOM, MOM, COME HERE!'. My husband and I both sprang up from the bed running to find our little guy choking on something. Whatever it was passed down his throat as I hammered his back with the palm of my hand a few times. He coughed for a minute or so and then was back to playing and watching a cartoon. We still don't know exactly what he was choking on. But we believe it was probably a vitamin or two as there appeared evidence of climbing and tampering in the pantry on that high shelf.

2 - In the early evening my hubby was grilling up some tasty dinner outside and the boys were in and out playing as he cooked. At one point my husband came in to get something (followed by his side kicks), then returned to the grill outside. Our oldest followed and behind him was the youngest. Our little guy is to little to close the door from the outside so big guy always does it for him. Only this time the little guys fingers were in the door jam. OUCH. He screamed but luckily only two of his fingers were injured and after 10 minutes of ice he acted normal once again. I only wonder how long those two fingers will be black, blue and purple.

3 - The last injury came late into the night as we were getting ready for bed and cleaning up the toys around the house. Our youngest was in the kitchen cleaning when he turned and landed on top of our little dog with his arms full of toys. She yelped and snapped right at him, grazing his cheek with her teeth. It left only a few little surface scratches but still it didn't feel good to him. More tears, more ice, and then finally bed!

I pray that he stays safe now for a while and that we don't have a tough day like that again.
