My little one today went over and sat next to his brother while he was playing with his toy penguins. He was just watching him and not trying to take the toys (for once). I came over to sit by them and watch them play.
The little one turned to me and signed a sign in sign language. There was no question in my mind which sign that was, it was perfect. I was amazed. He had signed bird! He knew that the penguin was a bird and he knew the sign for it. I think it is amazing how much our children absorb every day even when we don't think they are paying attention or understood. I had signed bird to our son probably 100 times and today he finally used it back when I least expected it.
