Some friends of ours just lost their three year old son to a drowning accident. The news came as such a shock and caught both me and my husband off guard. He heard the news first and was stunned. He needed to share it with someone right away and that someone was me. He called me while I was shopping for groceries. I lost my breath and had to sit down.

The question comes up. Why? Why such a young sweet kiddo? Why to such a great and strong christian family? There are really no true answers to this. Only the Lord knows. So what do we say to this family in a time like this? The right words will never come. We just let them know we are praying for them and will continue to do so.
At the viewing my oldest son asked me if that was the boy who drowned. I told him yes. He then said, 'But mom, he is a baby.'
How sad to have a little one's life cut short. But everyone knows, without a doubt, that this three year old is in heaven right now. He is being embraced and welcomed by Jesus. So it seems that our prayers now aren't for the young boy, but for his family. Prayers for his parents and two brothers who have to live their life without him and wait until their day comes to hug him again in heaven. They have beautiful memories. Memories to last their whole lifetime.
'Lord, give them peace!'
So I have absolutely nothing to complain about. Everything seems so trivial in retrospect. I am going to love my boys and soak up every minute with them this long weekend.
