Our church is starting a new series about living like Jesus. A major part of that is doing the greatest commandment.
Matt 22:37-38 Jesus replied: "Love the Lord you God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." This is the first and greatest commandment.
How difficult and almost seemingly unattainable to love with ALL my heart, soul and mind. I love the Lord but I will never have that perfect love that Jesus showed us. I know this but it is definitely beneficial for me to study Jesus' life very close. I hope to continue to learn how he loved EVERYONE, even those that no one else would show love to.
The study that I am doing now helps show me how to love like Jesus did. The books talk about how to improve our relationships so they can be rich and more rewarding.
I am going to work on my earthly relationships with my spouse and my children. I am going to try to act in ways of love all of the time instead of just some of the time. I am going to try to take a step back and approach the challenges of the everyday the way Jesus would want me to. It is a lot easier said than done for me. So please keep me in your prayers as I try to give up a real struggle I have with yelling. I do not like this part of me. I know it is the devil making me lose my patience with my kids. I love my kiddos and want them to see that all day and everyday. I don't want them to think of me as a 'yeller' or to think that I don't love them when I yell, b/c I love them always. I pray to make it one day at a time without raising my voice. (Our time out corner is going to get a real workout for the first week as they realize they need to help me out by being better listeners).
Nycole struggles with that too. It can be so frustrating when they don't listen - then to have the devil whisper to you that you are not important enough for them to listen to you. That one really hurts. But remember that they love you too very much!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the words of encouragement. I am just trying to keep things in check one day at a time with the Lord's help!!!
