Battles in the Kitchen

Our youngest is not the best behaved little boy lately. He is DEFINITELY in the 'terrible twos'.

As this is our second child, we thought we had a little experience raising little boys. This guy though has tried some new and unruly things. He tries my patience more than my firstborn. He requires me to pray for the Lord's strength to get through it all without exploding at them every week. Top three thus far:

#1 - He has done the ever famous writing on the wall three times so far. Also christening a bedspread, personalized mouse pad, and carpet. (our first didn't do this once)

#2 - He decided to grab the wild rice serving bowl one night during dinner time while I left the kitchen momentarily and threw handfuls around the whole room. Yes, it was cooked and all mushy and messy. Yes, he loved it and laughed while ruining it ALL. (took 30 minutes to clean it all up)

#3 - I was in the bathroom, busy, and our oldest came in to tell me his brother had spilled water on the floor. I listened and didn't think much of it as I would go and clean it up when I finished. He came back in a minute later and said his brother was still spilling the water. I asked him to tell his brother to come and see me. Little brother wouldn't come. Big brother told me he couldn't get him to stop spilling the water.

I took a moment to pray as I knew this situation was going to be monumental. Lord help me to not fly off the handle. Lord it is only water. Lord it can't be that bad. Lord there must be a silver lining to this adventure.

I cautiously entered the kitchen area to find our youngest on a chair that he had moved over to the refrigerator. He had taken the World's Smallest Cup ever and repeatedly filled it up from the automatic water dispenser and dumped it as far as his arm could reach. THERE WAS WATER EVERYWHERE by the time I got there!
- Yikes -
I picked him up, put the wet little monster into my kitchen sink, where I stripped him down, and then gently placed him in his crib to cry it out on his own while I cleaned up. (took 10 minutes to clean this time - SEVEN bath towels - but only 10 minutes)

We love our little wild child but he is a handful.

Lord, I do look back and thank You for the memories You have created for me. You have given me a beautiful gift, a miracle, a boy You created. Help me to forever remember how blessed I am. Amen.
