I Love Garage Sales

The town we live in is very restrictive with garage sales. I love them and wish there were more but I suppose it all works out for the better this way. It keeps all extra weekend traffic away from our subdivisions and makes people keep their front yards presentable.

They do however have two large community garage sales in a local parking garage. The parking spots are lined with sellers and the buyers walk through the garage space to space to browse the loot. It is a 'salers' dream.

We went this week and had some great finds on toys. Each of our boys were allowed to take 2 quarters out of their piggy banks to use on a special purchase. The youngest found and bought his purchases immediately (then sat in a stroller and played with them the rest of our visit). The oldest knew what he wanted but couldn't find it (especially for that price). He ended up settling and buying a different toy than he was originally looking for. I was proud of him for having the will to keep looking for that perfect toy. He is learning more about money and that it has a value. I hope that he doesn't ever turn into an impulse buyer.
