Wow, it is hard to live out of state and be away from the rest of our family. The 4 of us ended up here in Texas due to the flying jobs my husband and I have. Otherwise we have no real pull that keeps us here. Most of my family are in Colorado and Arizona and my husband's are in Arizona and Nevada (thank heaven for web cam). Everyone is out west and life would be perfect if we were able to be out there too. Maybe someday!
Our kiddos don't have close relationships with their cousins but it isn't their fault. They have cousins on both sides of the family but obviously everyone is so far away that it isn't too often that we all can get together. It seems that the first day that they are together they are just getting to know each other again. I grew up close with my cousins and have great memories of our times together. We skied and swam together, vacationed together, sang and danced and dressed up together. I hope that we can give these opportunities to our children so they too can have great memories with their cousins, despite the long distance. I am very passionate about family closeness and it hurts me to think that they are deprived in this area.
We always had a 5 year plan for Texas and then we said that we would live elsewhere. Well we've been here since the middle of 2000 and it looks like it will be quite a while longer. With this in mind, we are trying to make the most of it and make this a complete 'home' for us. We need more space for these boys to run around and play and be outside when it isn't to hot. So we are looking for a bigger place to answer these prayers. We honestly love the town we have settled in. We are looking to move very close by. We pray that we find the right house and God's Will makes it happen.
